Freeclimbing ......................................
Cliffbase, a sea-shore based climbing centre is located on the south side of Hvar island,in Sveta Nedjelja.
Great rock formations along the Adriatic sea shore on the south side of Hvar island allow rock climbing to dominate. Majority of the routes start
only a few meters from the seashore, some begin straight from the sea. Many routes are still being developed off, along the sea.(Cliffing).

The Procession ...................................
The procession ''Following the Cross'' begins at 10.00 p.m. on Holy Thursday from a village where those who have made a vow,
carry the cross from village to village and after having walked about twenty kilometers, return the cross to their own church just before dawn on
Good Friday. The inhabitants of Jelsa, Pitve, Vrisnik, Svirce, Vrbanj and Vrboska take part in this large procession which has a 500 year-old
tradition. In every church in these places, the mass begins at exactly the same time on Holy Thursday. The processions set off on the circular
route, moving from place to place. In this manner the processions arrive back to their ownparish churchesat dawn around 6.oo a.m. The route is
planned so that none of the processions meet. Special honour and privileges are accorded to the bearers of the cross, who carry the 12th-century
crucifixes throughout the night. |
Trip to Humac and cave of Grabčevo ..........
While walking and exporing the hills above Zavala you will experience a special and longlasting feeling of beauty. We climb
St. Anthony's hill from where there is a beautiful view of Zavala, Šcedro, Korcula, Pelješac, Vis and Lastovo islands. Through the fields of
garden-sage, rosemary and heather we reach the peak from which there is a wonderful view of the islands to the south and even to the mainland
and mountains to the north. Slowly strolling takes us to the old shepherds' settlement called Humac and from there further on to Grapceva cave,
where the remains of an early Stone Age culture (Neolithic period 5000-4000 years B.C.) have been found. |
